Call For An Immediate End of Ethnic Cleansing By Israel

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, Mr. Maxwell Gaylard, today January 29 2012, called for an immediate end to the demolition of Palestinian homes by the authorities of the Government of Israel in the occupied West Bank.

Earlier this month January Mr. Gaylard stated: „Almost 1,100 Palestinians, over half of them children, were displaced due to home demolitions by Israeli forces in 2011, over 80% more than in 2010. The forced displacement of Palestinian families and the destruction of civilian homes and other property by Israeli forces in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have a serious humanitarian impact. Israel, as the occupying power in the West Bank, has the obligation to protect Palestinian civilians and to administer the territory for their benefit. International law prohibits the forced displacement or transfer of civilians as well as the destruction of private property, unless absolutely necessary for military operations.“

According to the statment issued by the office of Mr. Gaylard January 26 2012, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

1. The forced displacement of Palestinian families and the destruction of civilian homes and other property by Israeli forces in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have a serious humanitarian impact. Demolitions deprive people of their homes, often their main source of physical and economic security. They also disrupt their livelihoods, reducing their standard of living and undermining their access to basic services, such as water and sanitation, education and health care.

2. The impact on families’ psychosocial well-being can be devastating. Women often feel a loss of control over domestic matters and a heightened sense of insecurity while men experience increased stress and anxiety. For many children, the demolition, along with the disruption to education and increased tension in the home, results in depression, anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

3. According to Israeli authorities, demolitions are carried out because structures lack the required building permits. In reality, it is almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain permits. The zoning and planning regime enforced by Israel in Area C and East Jerusalem restricts Palestinian growth and development, while providing preferential treatment for unlawful Israeli settlements. This treatment includes the approval of master plans and the provision of essential infrastructure, participation in the planning process, and the allocation of land and water resources.

4. In Area C, a combination of Israeli policies and practices, including restrictive zoning and planning, settlement expansion, settler violence, and restrictions on movement and access, have resulted in fragmentation of land and shrinking space for Palestinians, undermining their presence. Israeli authorities have also indicated that they intend to transfer several Palestinian communities out of strategic parts of Area C, raising further humanitarian and legal concerns.

5. Israel, as the occupying power in the West Bank, has the obligation to protect Palestinian civilians and to administer the territory for their benefit. International law prohibits the forced displacement or transfer of civilians as well as the destruction of private property, unless absolutely necessary for military operations. Demolitions of homes and other civilian structures should end immediately and Palestinians should have access to fair and effective zoning and planning for their communities.

Maxwell Gaylard
The Secretary-General appointed Mr. Maxwell Gaylard as the Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and the United Nations coordinator for humanitarian and development activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory in March 2008.
Mr. Gaylard has been acting as Deputy Special Coordinator since November 2007. He previously served as Director of the United Nations Mine Action Service, and before that spent significant periods of time as a senior United Nations humanitarian and coordination official in Somalia, Sudan and northern Iraq. In these capacities, he served in some of the most challenging field stations for the United Nations and gained relevant expertise in coordinating the United Nations country team’s response to pressing humanitarian and developmental needs.
An Australian national, Mr. Gaylard began his career with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and also served with the Commonwealth Secretariat before he joined the United Nations. Mr. Gaylard was born in 1946 in Nambour, Queensland, where he received his primary and secondary schooling, and is a graduate of the University of Queensland and the Australian National University. Mr. Gaylard also served with the Australian military forces from 1968 to 1970.

Nine years ago between 20 -27 December, as in several previous years, I moved from Hebron to Bethlehem to participate in the celebrations of the Christmas celebrations and to write about the event. I was staying at the residence of Bethlehem Bible College. Dr. Bishara Awad, Director of the college and his wife Salwa, Dr. Alex Awad, a professor at the College and his wife Brenda, welcomed me as in the previous years. They treated me with great courtesy and concern for my comfort, so much so that I felt as a member of the Awad family and as a welcome guest at the college.

I would leave the college every day and tour around Bethlehem. I would talk with Christians and Muslims, and everybody felt the happiness and joy of the holy Christmas. Muslims were waiting for Christmas exactly like Christians. In Palestine there is no difference between Muslims and Christians, everyone is equal and this tradition is celebrated by the adherents of both faiths. The ONLY obstacle during Christmas and other holidays was and is the zionist occupation, which assassinates the happiness, the joy, and the peaceful life of all Palestinians, Christians and Muslims equally.

Before 1993 and the signing of the so-called “Oslo peace agreement”, the Christmas celebrations were much nicer, much more comfortable than the celebrations I joined later and until 2002. It is sad to be forced to say that the Christmas celebrations under the horrible regime of the Israeli occupation were better than they are nowadays under the Palestinian Authority.

Since the signing of the Oslo agreement and its secret accessories, the demography of Palestine has changed. Everything was changed in TOP SILENCE and with full connivance of the “PNA”, not only in Bethlehem but in all Palestinian cities, towns and villages. The Octopus of the zionist occupation became more dangerous and worse than before with the criminal connivance of the PNA. The theft of Palestinian lands and the expansion of the colonies increased while the Palestinian themselves were happy to establish a useless administration, the “PNA” in return for a bunch of the miserable “VIP” cards for select functionaries and some thousands of para-military gangsters, riff-raff with different nationalities who were trained by several Arab dictatorships – US and UK colonies in all but name – who not-so-secretly befriend israel. The theft of the Palestinian agricultural lands of Jabal Abu Ghnien in Bethlehem, the establishment of the zionist colony “Har Homa”, the division of the Bethlehem-Jerusalem-Hebron main street, the theft of the Islamic the Waqf building of Bethlehem, the ethnic cleansing and illegal appropriation of the northern district of Bethlehem (from the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Bethlehem, the so-called “Rachel’s Tomb”, until Jerusalem), the theft of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque, the closure of the Muslim cemetery near the mosque, the closure of the Aida refugee camp, the apartheid wall and the establishment of the Iron border, these were all result of the so-called “Oslo peace agreement”.

I remember how the Christmas celebrations changed after the establishment of the Palestinian Authority under the Israeli occupation. I remember how much the obstacles for the Christian pilgrims increased each year. The worst Christmas celebrations were those place between 1999 and 2002, when the Christian religious convoy from Bethlehem, Beit Jala and Beit Sahour was halted in the middle of a military base of the Israeli occupation in front of the Bilal bin Rabah mosque which was stolen by the zionists and turned into a synagogue.
I saw the closure of the store of Mr. Michael Potros opposite of the Bilal bin Rabah mosque in Bethlehem. I sat several times at his store waiting for the Christians procession, for the clergymen coming from Jerusalem to Bethlehem to celebrate Christmas. In 2000, this store of a Christian Palestinian was closed by a military decision. All the surrounding area was declared a “military zone” so that the violent colonial squatters could pray undisturbed at the stolen mosque of Bilal ben Rabah. Mr. Potros and his family were forced to go to hell.
I saw how “Israel” violates the sanctity of the Christmas and how the occupation humiliates the dignity of the Christian clergy. They were all stopped like detainees in front of a military base, established over the territory of the city of Bethlehem, by the depraved soldiers of Israel. They were all waiting for the convoy of Patriarch Michel Sabbah. The manifestations of depravity and hatred were clear to see on their faces, instead of the expressions of Christmas joy and happiness present in the faces of the Christians and Muslims despite all the hardships forced upon them by the occupation.

In all countries of the world religious celebrations are held in peace, not under the tension of colonial occupation. ONLY in Palestine and since over 64 years, Christmas and other religious ceremonies are held under the constant threat of the military occupier and its tight restrictions. If any other nation held the Christmas celebrations under the presence of a colonial occupation, then for sure they would expiate in the sanctity of the ceremonies and they will find their ways to the struggle in order to celebrate the Christmas in peace.

The last time I saw a procession of Patriarch Michel Sabbah, he was humiliated at his arrival to Bethlehem. He was surrounded by armed police with automatic weapons and machine guns riding horses, and accompanied by military jeeps. And I saw him get out of his car at the entrance of the Aida refugee camp in the middle of the colonial zionist soldiers, because he was not allowed to enter Bethlehem in his car. I saw the Patriarch shaking hands with the Christians, standing frightened like inmates of a concentration camp among the armed soldiers in the city of Bethlehem. When I did not hear one word of condemnation from the Patriarch, then or later, for the inhuman treatment of the Christians, for the insults by the jews to the Christian faith at his every entry to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, then I knew what it means to be a hypocrite.
This year, Arte Channel showed a program about Christmas in Bethlehem. They filmed a Christian family from Bethlehem who have a workshop for carving Christmas gifts out of wood. The Camera filmed the lady of the house at home and her ways between the workshop and the church, all of which are far away from each other. The program neatly avoided the major problem, the Apartheid walls suffocating the city of Bethlehem, the hatred of the occupation checkpoints at the entrance of the city, the jewish colonies, the ubiquitous presence of israeli soldiers.
After watching this short film I understood how much the western media is managed and manipulated. I myself know what kind of journalistic work and what kind of questions the Austrian colleagues are asking. When the moderators at press conferences beg the Austrian journalists to ask their questions, they do not ask. I have witnessed such unreal scenes more than once, where none of the journalist present asks anything. Sadly, it is enough for them to use the press releases issued before the conference starts and publish them. I have wondered if they do this because they don’t care or because they fear losing their job if they upset anybody with a question.
Also, this year, like all previous years, the Austrian state TV, ORF, runs a program which shows how Austrian children “bring the light” from Bethlehem to Austria. The same like the Arte documentary described above, they completely avoid the issue of the occupation and that these days Bethlehem is more aptly described as a concentration camp than a city. It is very sad to see how the Catholic Church supports iniquity and grave crimes against humanity with their silence.

Fritz Edlinger – Wien Dec. 26 2011 – Der Generalsekretär der Gesellschaft für Österreichisch-Arabische Beziehungen (GÖAB) Fritz Edlinger begrüßte in einer Stellungnahme die vor wenigen Tagen in Kairo abgeschlossene Vereinbarung zwischen den wichtigsten palästinensischen Fraktionen, eine umfassende Reform der Palästinensischen Befreiungsbewegung in Angriff zu nehmen und dadurch den Beginn einer dringend notwendigen politischen, personellen und organisatorischen Erneuerung der PLO ernsthaft zu beginnen.
Die Überwindung der Spaltung der politischen Führung des Palästinensischen Volkes stellt eine wesentliche Voraussetzung der entschiedenen und konsequenten Vertretung der legitimen Rechte der Palästinenser auf nationale Selbstbestimmung in Übereinstimmung mit den geltenden völkerrechtlichen Normen dar. Diese internen Konflikte wurden in den letzten Jahren von der israelischen Regierung geschürt und ohne Skrupel ausgenützt. Sie trug durch geschicktes Manövrieren wesentlich zur Spaltung des Palästinensischen Volkes bei und nützte diese Situation der Schwäche ohne Rücksicht zur intensivierten Fortsetzung ihrer illegalen Besatzungs- und Landraubpolitik aus.

Es kommt daher weiter nicht überraschend, dass die Stellungnahme der israelischen Regierung absolut negativ ausfiel. Ministerpräsident Benjamin Netanjahu, seit vielen Jahren ein entschiedener Gegner jeder fairen und völkerrechtlichen Grundsätzen entsprechenden Verhandlungslösung, kündigte an, keine wie immer geartete Verhandlungen mit einer palästinensischen Autonomieverwaltung, an der auch die Hamas beteiligt ist, zu führen. Diese starre israelische Haltung war zu erwarten, auch wenn die israelische Regierung durchaus Gespräche mit der Hamas führt, wie dies ja erst jüngst durch den vereinbarten Gefangenenaustausch dokumentiert worden ist.

Ob diese innerpalästinensische Aussöhnung tatsächlich auch eine Bewegung in den zum völligen Stillstand gekommenen „Friedensprozess“ bringen wird, hängt weitgehend von der Haltung der USA und Europa ab. In diesem Zusammenhang forderte Fritz Edlinger die EU auf, endlich die zweideutige Haltung zur Hamas aufzugeben und den Prozess der nationalen Einheit in Palästina tatkräftig zu unterstützen. Er erwarte sich von der EU eine klare Stellungnahme, in welcher diese Entwicklung begrüßt und auch die europäische Unterstützung für diesen zum Ausdruck gebracht wird. Die erste Bewährungsprobe einer geänderten europäischen Haltung, wie sie ja zuletzt anhand verschiedener Erklärungen im Rahmen der Vereinten Nationen aber auch der europäischen Vertreter in Jerusalem über die israelische Siedlungspolitik und die Diskriminierung der arabischen Minderheit in Israel zum Ausdruck gekommen ist, wird sich im Zusammenhang mit den im kommenden Mai geplanten Wahlen in Palästina ergeben. Er erwarte eine massive politische, organisatorische und finanzielle Unterstützung seitens der EU, damit diese Wahlen möglichst unbehindert durchgeführt werden können, schloss der GÖAB-Generalsekretär seine Stellungnahme.

The Bethlehem Call: Here we stand – Stand with us

Preamble

How long, O God, will they steal our livelihood? Oppress, imprison and humiliate our people? Deprive our children of their childhood? Indeed how long, God, will the multitudes of Christians of the world ignore the anguish of our Palestinian sisters and brothers and all of the oppressed?

“Come and see,” said the Christians of Palestine. “Come and see the olive groves, the bulldozers, the ancient terraces, the segregated cities. The situation is worsening.”

More than 60 participants from 15 countries heeded an urgent call by Kairos Palestine. On 410 December 2011; they joined Palestinians in the Kairos for Global Justice Encounter/Conference in Bethlehem.

The aims and objectives of the encounter/conference were to:

Bring awareness of and share a Kairos consciousness experienced by all groups attending the encounter;
Strengthen and build ties among Kairos groups to form a committed global network for justice;
Learn from the Palestinian experience the urgency of Kairos solidarity and to end injustice by implementing concrete actions at the national, regional and global level.

On the road to this encounter/conference, there was the Amman Call in 2007, which ended 60 years without a unified Christian voice speaking against the Israeli occupation of Palestine. The next milestone was the Berne Perspective in 2008, which is illustrated in the statement: “Enough is enough. No more words without deeds, it is time for action.” The cry for justice in Palestine reached a pivotal moment when, in December 2009, Palestinian Christians launched the Kairos Palestine document: “A word of faith, hope and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering.” (Click on the small image to make it bigger).

The current context

Today, the illegal regime and illegal forms of the Israeli occupation of Palestine assumes dimensions of systemic injustice whereby the unthinkable and unimaginable becomes globally accepted, supported and normalized. This is an example of Empire (global domination) at work. It happens in Palestine as it happens in many other contexts around the world. At the same time, Palestine is clearly a global issue. The government of Israel claims to have and indeed enjoys an exceptional status within the international community. Israel regards itself to be above the law and is treated as exempt from international law. This status provides the Israeli government the freedom to occupy Palestine with impunity.

As witnessed with our own eyes, the treacherous conditions imposed by the Israeli occupation on Palestinians and their land have reached a level of almost unimaginable and sophisticated criminality. This includes the slow yet deliberate and systematic ethnic cleansing and the genocide of Palestinians and Palestine as well as the strangling of the Palestinian economy. The brutality in the “violence of silence” internationally provides an almost impenetrable shield for the Israeli government to implement its evil designs in blatant disregard for human rights and international law. Silence is an opinion. Inaction is an action. We witness decidedly spineless cowardice in failure to resist the Israeli government by the majority of governments, political parties, media outlets, businesses, most of organized religion including Christianity and the silence of prophets worldwide. This makes us accomplices in crimes against humanity, such as the crimes of apartheid and persecution as described in international law.1

We witness also the resolve and resilience of Palestinians to match the imbalance of political, economic and military power with unbending steadfastness for their freedom and just peace.

The deligitimization and criminalization of the Israeli government and its local and international support base is gaining unstoppable momentum. The existence of international boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaigns and other forms of nonviolent resistance is an established fact. The government and state of Israel is now regarded as an apartheid regime in terms of international law, with particular reference to the UN Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid and the Rome Statutes of the International Criminal Court. The severity of the Palestinian situation makes comparisons with apartheid in South Africa superfluous and almost irrelevant. The benchmark is international law and not South Africa.

Globally we observe a context of growing fluidity and volatility. In this context, we are deeply concerned to observe how governments and societies in the West, including churches and ecumenical bodies dominated by the West, are becoming more and more exclusive, supremacist and dictatorial in conserving an unjust status quo. Furthermore, the growing economic and political volatility of world powers in North America and Europe creates a context of uncertainty for precise timelines in dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian situation. However this fluidity in addition to the Arab Awakening holds potential for hope.

The global South, also complicit in regard to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, possesses the potential to be an untapped source of hope. This potential holds value not only for Palestinians but also for those societies in the global North where Empire crumbles.
We are also acutely aware of struggles for justice everywhere, including within Israel itself. We have come to ignite, nurture and strengthen a Kairos consciousness for each of these contexts as interconnected and interrelated. We draw inspiration and strength from each other and also from progressive peace activists and human rights groups in Israel.

In the deep pain of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, of
Palestinian refugees and of Israeli Arab citizens, we witnessed the tears of God. God keeps the flame of faith alive, as the darkness of despair closes in. God lives and breathes in the lament of those whose future has been stolen. In the cries of the dispossessed we have sensed the passion of God for right to prevail.

God takes sides for justice against injustice. God does not take kindly to injustice and the perpetrators of injustice. “He has shown the might with His arm. He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and has exalted the lowly (Luke 1:4655). A spirituality that recognizes the face of God in every human being is, therefore, inevitably marked by a bias towards justice for the poor and the oppressed. “One thing God requires of you is only this, to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your God,” (Micah 6:8). This is the true essence of both Testaments. Christ still weeps over Jerusalem.

A Kairos is both the recognition of God’s will and the urgency of our response. It is in the awareness of a God of the Now, who is deeply involved in the human predicament. God keeps us steadfast in courage, hope and love as we continue to struggle and resist.

We pray and plead for a radical change of hearts, policies and practices of the Israeli government and those governments that support it. If this does not happen, we pray in trembling and hope if it is God’s will…. for these governments to fall.

Some non-negotiable: Occupation no more

In the light of the above and with our conviction that Palestine is in an ever deepening crisis, Kairos Palestine urgently calls us to move forward boldly and act radically by speaking out with courage, passion and determination. The time for words and diplomatic niceties, that obscure the reality, are over. We affirm the churches’ commitment to and contributions for decisive action since the Amman Call as well as in the creation and impact of the Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum (PIEF). Nevertheless, we will strengthen and increase our advocacy initiatives.

Therefore, we:
• Reject the silence of the church, lest we be accomplices in crimes against humanity, such as those of apartheid and persecution. It is imperative to speak up and cry with the oppressed in demanding justice.
• Refuse to be coerced into accepting financial assistance from any church or organization that supports the Occupation.
• Challenge any church which, either directly or indirectly, invests in companies which support the occupation. As congregants of a church, we will be alert towards church policies and challenge unethical financial investment and spending practices.
• Call the Israeli occupation of Palestine a crime and sin. We reject any theological or political justification for the Occupation. We regard such theologies as defying the core of the Gospel.
• Reject any argument aimed at convincing Palestinians and the international community that the problems are caused by Muslims rather than the Occupation.
• Demand that churches take bold and courageous positions for justice against injustice. We are appalled at the spiritual and institutional cowardice that refuses to take an unequivocal stand for justice. Equally, victims and perpetrators cannot be put on equal footing in efforts to create illusions of balance.
• Confirm our obligation to resist the Occupation in faith, hope and love. We reject calls to cease advocating and practicing BDS or any other form of nonviolent civil resistance that will end the Occupation.
• Resist being party to any church or church-related organization offering tours to the Holy Lands that do not include an encounter with local Palestinians and express our opposition to such initiatives. Alternative tourism groups are now available that Christians and others can avail themselves of.
• Demand that the Right of Return for all Palestinian refugees be enforced.
• Steadfastly uphold the principle of compassion toward the oppressor. We acknowledge and understand their experiences of oppression, fears and insecurities. Our demands are in the best interests for a better future for all involved.

In love, we rage against injustice and yet refuse to be destroyed by our anger.

Our vision: Call to act now

A shared vision of peace with justice inspires us to respond with committed action, at this critical moment. This vision must include affirming voices from the Jewish, Muslim and other faith traditions that express hope for a pluralistic, democratic society here.

The tide is turning. The pain will pass soon if we act now. This calls for a collective willingness to take risks in the cause of justice.

Theology: One voice for justice

We commit ourselves to develop contextual biblical theologies and practices of resistance and liberation. We will unmask those theologies in our midst that are harbingers of death for Palestinians and the oppressed worldwide and we will challenge traditional ways of doing theology.

Dismantling Israeli apartheid

We support and commit ourselves to the dismantling of Israeli apartheid, insist on the enforcement of international law and ensuring the fulfillment of legitimate demands of Palestinians. These demands include:

People living side by side in justice and peace within pre1967 borders;
A shared Jerusalem including open access to all holy sites;
The right of return for Palestinian refugees;
An end to all settlement extensions and dismantling of the settlement system;
Free access to water and sanitation;
The breakdown of the apartheid wall.

We should not accept the argument that the fear of civil unrest between Israeli settlers and Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories is a deterrent to achieving Palestinian freedom.

Prophetic communities that support Palestine

We commit to:

Acknowledge that people at the community level are empowered as the primary theologians of a Kairos Consciousness.
Develop effective south-north and south-south coalitions for prophetic action
Agree that Kairos Palestine create a core group to facilitate these coalitions

Boycott-Divestment-Sanction (BDS): Creative, non-violent now

We commit to engage in creative, nonviolent resistance in response to the call from our Palestinian sisters and brothers to this end, including BDS.
We will actively participate in and lend credibility to popular, nonviolent resistance in Palestine, Israel and internationally, including giving effect to BDS We will oppose with appropriate means the policies of our governments that support the occupation.

Holy Lands Tourism and Pilgrimage
We will:

Promote and participate in alternative tourism and Kairos pilgrimages in the Holy Lands for the purposes of spiritual nurturing, awareness-raising and advocacy.
Insist that such tours be organized by or in partnership with Palestinian tour operators
Utilize those travel agencies that follow “Come and See: A Call from Palestinian Christians for Ethical Tourism”2. We will challenge and boycott those that do not.
Actively seek to enable targeted groups to travel to Israel-Palestine.

Conclusion
The Bethlehem Call for a here-we-stand, stand-with-us journey provides each one of us a joyous blessing and honor, difficult though the journey may be. We seize this opportune, Kairos moment with conviction and hope.

Palestinians and a world community have gathered: here in, breaking barriers between regions and cultures and building bridges of friendship and solidarity because we have a common dream to see a Palestine and a world free of all forms of injustice. We believe that each one of us was called to Bethlehem for a purpose.

May God bless us with discomfort at easy answers, at half truths and superficial relationships so that we may live deeply within our hearts. May God bless us with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation. May God bless us with tears to share for those who suffer in pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that we may reach out our hands to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy. And may God bless us with enough foolishness to believe that we can make a difference in this world so that we can do what others claim cannot be done. And may the blessing of the God of Abraham and Sarah, and Jesus born in Bethlehem of our sister Mary, and of the Holy Spirit, who broods over the world as a mother over her children, be upon us and remain with us always. Amen.

This Christmas men are looking to the Holy Land, and they are listening — not for the strains of “Glory to God in the Highest,” but for the sounds of war upon earth. And we might say: It is just. God long ago crashed the Temple of Jerusalem to the ground, and cursed its people, the Jews, to be forever homeless and wandering. If the world has defied this Divine judgment and supported a Jewish return to Palestine, then let the world bear the consequences of God’s righteous anger.

But this leaves a greater part unsaid. For the Holy Land is infinitely more than a geographical locality which God has forbidden to the Jews. It is, for all time, the precious countryside where God became the Child of a Virginal Mother, and where God as Man walked and taught and died for us. It is, indeed, God’s Land.

If, therefore, we are anxious this Christmas, our concern is this: The leaders of our nation have proposed that Christian boys be ready to shed their blood in order to make the Jews secure within the borders of the Holy Land. But should this happen, should Christian lives be spent to keep God’s Land in the hands of His crucifiers, the price of such betrayal will not be confined to the deserts of the East. We will be paying, in kind, on bloody Main Street, U. S. A.

THE ENEMIES OF CHRIST AT CHRISTMAS

Soon, the Jews of America will be trying once more to jostle Christmas from its place as the nation’s chief interest in late December. As elbow for this endeavor, the Jews will rely again on their festival of Chanukah — once a minor holiday but recently seized on because of its timely Yuletide occurrence and now celebrated with all the blare and bluster the Jews can produce.

Though originally set up in 165 B. C., the observance of Chanukah (Hebrew for “Dedication”) has long since lost its holy, Old Testament meaning. Thus, when Jewish leaders decided a few years back to revive and exalt the holiday, they found it expedient also to invest it with a fresh and acceptable significance. They have, accordingly, made it an annual practice to hire the principal halls in the principal cities of the country for the staging of special Chanukah pageants. These loudly-trumpeted extravaganzas (“Inspiring — Breathtaking — Spectacular”) oppose the Birth of the true Messias by dramatizing, with the solemnity of religious ritual, the birth of their own messianic empire: the Jewish state of Israel.

It is, of course, true that the Jews would have been eager to exploit any one of their festivals that was opportune in order to affront the beauty and singularity of Christmas. Yet Chanukah is especially suited for such a use — because it was on that day that Our Lord revealed Himself to the Jews as the Messias, and, for doing so, was almost stoned. The story is told in the Holy Gospel of Saint John (Chap. 10, v. 22-39):

“And the Dedication was in Jerusalem: and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple, in Salomon’s porch. The Jews therefore compassed him round about, and said to him, How long doest thou hold our soul in suspense? If thou be Christ, tell us openly. Jesus answered them, I speak to you: and you believe not, the works that I do in the name of my Father, they give testimony of me, but you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep. My sheep hear my voice: and I know them, and they follow me. And I give them life everlasting: and they shall not perish for ever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand. My father, that which he hath given me, is greater than all: and no man can pluck them out of the hand of my father. I and the Father are one. The Jews took up stones, to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works I have showed you from my father, for which of those works do you stone me? The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because thou being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, that I said, you are God’s? If he called them God’s, to whom the word of God was made, and the scripture can not be broken: whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world, say you, That thou blasphemest, because I said I am the son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, and if you will not believe me, believe the works: that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father. They sought therefore to apprehend him: and he went forth out of their hands.”

Because it is reckoned by the Jewish calendar, the day on which Chanukah falls may vary from year to year by as much as a month. This year it is due to fall on its earliest possible date. But Jews have never been ones to let liturgical niceties stand in the way of more vital considerations, and so, the Jews of Boston (the only segment of whose plans we have heard) are making an adroit adjustment in their schedule. Their annual Chanukah pageant at the Boston Garden will be held this year, not when the calendar says Chanukah should occur, but some three weeks later, on December the twenty-third — just a stone’s throw from Christmas.

* * * * * The pride of Jewish rural life is the “kibbutz,” a sort of collective farm settlement, of which there are presently some 250 well-populated examples in the state of Israel. A recent volume to swell the praises of these communes is Harvard University Press’ Kibbutz, Venture in Utopia. The following two extracts from this book provide a raw, startling picture of the Jews who today inhabit the Land of Christ’s Birth:

“In its attempt to create a better world, the kibbutz has found that it faces considerable opposition, and it has come to view this opposition with an intense hatred. Indeed, it is not unfair to say the kibbutz hates almost everybody, since it views almost everybody as an opponent. Outside of Israel, all the ‘bourgeois’ countries are hated, and only the Soviet Union and ‘People’s Democracies’ are ‘loved.’

“As for marriage, they believed — and still believe — that a union between a man and woman was their own affair, to be entered into on the basis of love and to be broken at the termination of love; neither the union nor the separation were to require the permission or the sanction of the community. Today, for example, if a couple wishes to marry, the partners merely ask for a joint room; if they wish a divorce, they return to separate rooms.”

* * * * * Each year when the Church commemorates the arrival of the Magi at Bethlehem, on the Feast of the Epiphany, our priests are required to read, as an integral part of their Breviary prayers, the following homily by Pope Saint Gregory the Great:

“All things which He had made, bore witness that their Maker was come ... And yet, up to this very hour, the hearts of the unbelieving Jews will not acknowledge that He, to Whom all nature gave testimony, is their God. Being more hardened than the rocks, the Jews refuse to be rent by repentance.”

This is but one instance of what the Jews would term the “anti-Semitism” of the Church’s Advent and Christmas Season liturgy. With the possible exception of Holy Week in Lent, there is no period in the whole liturgical year which more emphasizes the bridgeless chasm separating Christian faith and Jewish infidelity.

From Advent through the Epiphany Octave, the texts of the Mass and the Divine Office resound repeatedly with that theme which is at once the fulfilled expectation of the Jews of the Old Law, and the indictment of the deicide Jews of today:

“Behold, O Israel, your king ... Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, for the day of the Lord is nigh ... It is the birth of the Christ, O Jerusalem ... The Savior of the world will be our King ... He shall sit upon the throne of David His father.”

These are the tidings of great joy which plague the Jews as sorely this December as they did more than nineteen hundred years ago. And among these tidings there is, for the Jews, no more hateful information than the exultant shouts that the Baby of Bethlehem is the true Son of David, inheriting a royal title from His foster father, Saint Joseph, and royal blood from His Spotless Mother, the Virgin Mary. It was precisely to attack this central truth of Christmas that the rabbis of the early Christian centuries concocted that unprintably-filthy version of the Birth of Christ which is now found in the Jews’ “holy” book, the Talmud. We have determined never to reprint, in direct quotation, these blasphemous assaults against the purity of the Mother of God. But that they were invented by the rabbis, for the express purpose of challenging Our Lord’s title to the Throne of David, is abundantly admitted by Jewish authorities. The Jewish Encyclopedia, for example, blithely states, in its article on “Jesus,” that, “For polemical purposes it was necessary for the Jews to insist on the illegitimacy of Jesus as against the Davidic descent claimed by the Christian Church.”

At no point in the Christmas liturgy, however, does the Church’s consciousness of Jewish perfidy becloud her joy at the Birth of the Messias. In this spirit, therefore, we anticipate the coming gladness, and leave our readers with that jubilant exhortation from the Third Mass of Christmas:

“Come ye Gentiles and adore the Lord, for this day a great light hath descended upon the earth!”

Tell El Obeid

This is what is left of the Tower of Babel Ubaid: Tell El-Ubaid that had stood in the plain of Shinar (Mesopotamia - modern Iraq) that God punished the people for building and divided their language into many conflicting tongues to prevent them from accomplishing their aim of storming heaven and acting as gods over the whole earth. The idea of trying to say that curse extends to today to the modern Iraqi people or that they are somehow sacred as opposed to other people because of the Tower of Babel and where it stood is absurd. All people on earth are equally descended from the inhabitants of Mesopotamia of that time. That was somewhat after the flood of Noah.

Notice that all people are still referred to as the children of Adam at that point. Ur of the Chaldees, where Abram was called out of by God and then later renamed Abraham, is just a few miles away from where Tell El-Ubaid is. The single tongue mentioned is that of Heber who did not lend himself to the effort that offended God. Hence Biblical Hebrew, which is the original language of Adam and therefore all people trace their language to Adam, as they do equally their ancestry, is sacred in the Old Testament as a language given by God to ALL his faithful. All languages descend from Biblical Hebrew. The closest modern spoken languages are classical Arabic and the Chaldaean liturgical language of the ancient Chaldaean Church and Assyro-Aramaic of the ancient Assyrian Church and the Palestinian Aramaic of the mother of all the churches, the Church of Jerusalem which continues unbroken from the time of Christ down to today in Palestine. Coptic is closely allied.

We Christians and Muslims worship the same God, Allah (SWT) and have our Religious linguistic roots closely allied. Maltese and Arabic speaking Christians as well as Muslims naturally call upon God as Allah, which is from the Biblical Hebrew name of God, Eloah.

To try and build the temple of Remphan where the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque now stand (picture - dome of the Rock) in the Noble Sanctuary is an act of extreme Dajjal, Antichrist, blasphemy against God, that must not be tolerated by faithful Christians and Muslims.

God voided the covenant

The core of the "Israeli" lie is that they are the people that God made a land covenant with in the area called Palestine for nearly two thousand years. In the Book of Deuteronomy, Chapters 28 -- 32 God explicitly tells Moses that the ancient Israelites will trangress the land covenant with God and God will void the covenant permanently and cast them out.

This came to pass forevermore exactly as Our Lord Jesus Christ said 1500 years later when He prophesied the utter destruction of the Temple. That destruction occurred in 70 A.D. God also granted the descendants of Ishmael the land {this covenant has never been revoked by God but instead expanded on in God's revelation of Islam to Muhammad (PBUH)} since God was done with land covenants that had the specific purpose of pointing to His revelation of the Messiah with the Incarnation, Death and Burial and Resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. For, as the Church Fathers taught, the land covenant was only a type of the Resurrection of Christ, and the resurrection of all men by virtue of the Cross of Christ – His Kenosis.

From that land covenant with Ishmael, God, Allah (SWT) brought forth the covenant with people revealed first to the Arab people which is Islam and that is at the same time a total reaffirmation of the covenants with Moses and with Christians through the only Messiah who is Jesus Christ. That covenant of Islam is written in classical Arabic - the Holy Qur'an. Classical Arabic is the coming together of the pre-classical Arabic and Aramaic which are descended from ancient Biblical Hebrew. The New Testament and Old Testament Septuagint are in Koine Greek (an amalgam or construct of all five Greek dialects at that time beginning with the most classical Attic). The Septuagint is a divinely inspired translation of the Biblical Hebrew just as the Septuagint New Testament, the Injil, is the divinely inspired record of Our Lord Jesus Christ's coming to earth at His incarnation. Masoretic Hebrew and worse yet, modern Hebrew, are corruptions. The Talmud is a mockery and utterly devoid of truth; it has nothing to do with God's word in the Bible.

The Bible, Old and New Testaments, and the Qur'an are all the Holy books of God.

Christians and Muslims together is a blessing willed by God.

The impostors in the Holy Land who call themselves "Israelis" and "Jews" and claim God gave them the land are not Semites but instead totally predominantly are Khazars converted to Talmudism and not anything to do with any Israelite covenant with God. They are speakers of just about any corruption - yiddish, modern Hebrew etc., and not the language of Adam, Enoch, Noah, Heber, Moses, David, Elijah and Jesus Christ. They are intruders who broke every international law and law of man imaginable in order to pillage the Holy Land from its rightful inhabitants who are the Palestinians, both Christian and Muslim. To show themselves true to God the Christians and Muslims have stood for God and His truth, and extended in exchange for the villainy committed against them, the offer of true peace with even the interlopers who invaded their land. Instead, the interlopers have created a Diabolical wall, that at the same time creates the largest open air concentration camp - Gaza, and even fences the Jews into yet another, this time again, self made ghetto. That is nothing but Satanic envy and idiocy. Pray for the peace of Palestine, and when Saints Enoch and Elijah return to preach, whenever that is, do exactly whatever they say.

When the United Nations, in 1977, proclaimed 29 November of each year as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, it was a clear admission of guilt towards this people. It was recognition that the Palestinian people deserve international solidarity and support, in the name of justice and rights. This was merely one small event in a long story.

The story of Palestine and its people is one that will go down in history. In fact it has already started to do just that. One might say that the victor is the one that writes history. The victor in this case will inevitably be justice, and justice is at the core of the Palestinian struggle against apartheid, colonialism and oppression. And as in every episode in history, everyone will be mentioned according to their positions, and more importantly their deeds with respect to each story.

In the day of solidarity, let us remember that.

Military reneges on Wall Street mandates, gets second wave of protests aimed at them.

After playing a role Wall Street and London meddlers had hoped would translate into the Egyptian military holding the bag while corporate-fascists like those escorted through Cairo by John McCain in June 2011 filled it with Egypt's wealth, it seems as if the Egyptian military, through the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCARF) has gotten cold feet.

Perhaps through pangs of nationalism or at least a realistic appraisal of their own future, trading places with the now fully betrayed Hosni Mubarak or Muammar Qaddafi verses their best self-interests, the military, despite grandiose promises to usher in Wall Street and London's "democratic reforms," including the implementation of a constitution literally written by George Soros-funded think tanks, have laid these measures thoroughly, and entirely to the wayside.

With predictable exactitude, the very same protesters, led by the very same US-created April 6 youth movement and Muslim Brotherhood, have once again poured into the streets to either get the military back on the right, Wall Street/London approved track, or as Council on Foreign Relations "fellow" Steve Cook hopes, oust the military from power all together.

Al Arabiya News has recently reported that the April 6 youth movement, "would stay in Tahrir Square and continue sit-ins in other cities until its demands were met, including a call for a presidential vote no later than April."

The Muslim Brotherhood has also taken a vocal lead in the protests ~ a move that should not surprise anyone aware of the US-backed nature of the Arab Spring, consuming nations from Tunisia to Syria and everywhere in between.

Waiting in the wings for this eventual collapse and the expedited presidential elections April 6 is "fighting for," is US-backed Mohammed ElBaradei, another "Nobel Peace Prize" carrying imposter, along side President Barack Obama, and Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi, bent in perpetual servitude to the corporate-fascist agenda of Wall Street and London.

ElBaradei has faced severe PR challenges as Egyptians and indeed people around the world learned of his deep ties to Washington despite his attempt at portraying himself as "at odds" with the West.

At one point, ElBaradei, after leading the US-engineered "Arab Spring" through his native home of Egypt, had rocks hurdled at him months later, with angry mobs calling him "an American agent."

Predictably the West came to his rescue using the now fully exhausted ploy of planting "Wikileaks" documents "revealing" just how contemptible the West saw ElBaradei in an attempt to rehabilitate his image as "anti-West" and therefore "pro-Arab" and thus more likely to be able to foist the US agenda upon Egyptians.

More recently, and perhaps the most ludicrous attempt yet to paint ElBaradei as anything but an agent of the West, was when Israel accused him of being an "Iranian agent" instead. Of course, ElBaradei literally sits on the board of trustees of the same US corporate-funded think-tank, the International Crisis Group, as several of Israel's most prominent political and financial figures including the Israeli President himself, Shimon Peres.

That April 6 was waiting at the airport in Cairo (and subsequently arrested) in 2010 for ElBaradei's return to Egypt, after the youth movement had received training via the US State Department in New York a full two years earlier, is highly significant.

April 6, along with Google's Wael Ghonim would spend 2010 building up ElBaradei's "National Front for Change" for the coming January 25, 2011 Egyptian revolution. As this premeditated, US-engineered unrest unfolded, many of the media organizations complicit in the US State Department's planning of the "Arab Spring" feinted surprise and confusion claiming that these events were entirely spontaneous, triggered by neighboring unrest in Tunisia (which was also premeditated by the West years in advance) and entirely indigenous in nature.

That April 6 is now back in Tahrir Square, with their man ElBaradei still lurking in Egypt's political underbrush bidding his time, and as violence starts all over again, it appears something has gone awry with the West's heavy investments in the Egyptian military.

The US is still in fact funding the Egyptian military, perhaps in a bid to bring out officers more willing to take short-term Western incentives at the cost of inevitable long-term consequences. It is also likely this continued funding plays as the carrot to the US State Department-funded street mobs' stick to get the military to move forward and accept Wall Street/London mandates regarding Egypt.

Such a dichotomy of incentives and consequences are a reoccurring theme in US foreign policy and have been written about extensively by US policy makers, in particular toward Iran, where economic aid of every kind imaginable is counterbalanced with the threat of everything from fomenting street mobs against the Iranian government, to funding outright terrorism, to even unilateral first strikes against the Islamic Republic.

The definitive "handbook" of overthrowing an entrenched targeted regime, Brookings' "Which Path to Persia?" gives invaluable insight into the mechanics at work now in Egypt.

And finally, as people fret over which side to take, it should be noted that no real revolution of any kind will take place until people both understand the balance of power currently held in the world today and how to change it pragmatically rather than politically.

Whether Egypt retains its sovereignty against the Wall Street-funded forces wreaking havoc throughout Cairo's streets or not, Wall Street itself will remain intact until we see them, not Egyptian generals or street hooligans and dupes as the true enemy, and the systematic boycotting and replacingof their degenerate, global domineering system implemented in full as the solution.

The Russell Tribunal on Palestine: Israel’s policies amount to Apartheids

Sent by Al-Haq for Human Rights in Ramallah – Operating as a court of the people, the Russell Tribunal on Palestine held its third international session on 5-6 November 2011 in the symbolic city of Cape Town, South Africa. The Russell Tribunal on Palestine addressed the question of whether Israel’s rule over the Palestinian people could be characterised as a regime of apartheid and found that the Palestinian people are subject to an institutionalised regime of domination. Al-Haq welcomes the findings of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine as they represent an important step towards mobilising public opinion and putting pressure on decision makers with regard to Israeli practices against the Palestinian people in breach of the prohibition on apartheid.

Following the hearing, the third international session of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine concluded that Israel subjection of the Palestinian people to an institutionalized regime of domination manifests itself in varying intensity and forms. Despite distinguishing between Palestinians living under colonial military rule in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), who are subject to a particularly aggravated form of apartheid, and Palestinian citizens of Israel, systematically discriminated against across the broad spectrum of human rights, the Tribunal finds that Israel’s rule over the Palestinian people collectively amounts to an integrated regime of apartheid as defined under customary international law.

Prior to the South African session of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, Al-Haq presented a written submission on the legal and administrative measures impacting residency rights and the freedom of movement of Palestinians in the OPT. The testimony focussed on Israel’s institutionalized discriminatory policies that have resulted in the overarching fragmentation of the Palestinian population into sub-groups – West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. These divisions prevent Palestinians from participating in the political, social, economic and cultural life in the OPT, thus impeding their full development as a group.

On the second day of the Russell Tribunal, Al-Haq provided an oral testimony, highlighting the factual restrictions on Palestinians living in the OPT. Today, more than 580 obstacles, such as roadblocks, checkpoints, trenches and road gates, obstruct Palestinian movement within the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. In addition to these restrictions, Palestinians with West Bank IDs are prohibited from entering East Jerusalem without a permit from the Israeli authorities, which is virtually impossible to obtain. Most of the movement restrictions imposed on Palestinians aim to privilege the over 500,000 Israeli settlers living in settlements established, in contravention of international humanitarian law, throughout the West Bank.

In addition, Al-Haq emphasised the discriminatory policies imposed on Palestinians living in the Jordan Valley, presenting a stark example of segregation between Palestinians and Jewish settlers. The area contains the land and water reserves of the West Bank, but a draconian matrix of Israeli military and administrative measures severely restricts Palestinian access to land and natural resources, including water. Whereas the over 9,000 Israeli settlers living in the Jordan Valley enjoy uninterrupted water supply for their household consumption as well as large amounts of subsidised water for irrigation, Palestinians have no choice but to buy water, which costs up to 5 times the price paid by households connected to the water network.

All States have a legal obligation under international law to cooperate to bring an end to the illegal situation arising from Israel’s practices of apartheid. Al-Haq urges all States to effectively comply with their obligations under international law, including:

by exercising pressure on Israel to put an end to the violations; and

by refraining from recognizing or providing aid and assistance to Israel for its violations of international law.
